Botman Nick Memorial

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousands winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Sadly, the battle is over for our brother Nick.
Though sad for us, Nick is in a better place, he is home.
Remember Nick in joy and happiness.
Goodbye Nick, Goodbye Friend, Goodbye Brother.

Please add your goodbyes below...

Remarks

I will remember this past year, from the day that you called me from the hospital with the first sign of trouble to times having a beer with you at your house over the summer. Your courage, humor, and willingness to help and believe in the good in others have made me strive to be better, stronger and more compassionate person. I will miss the sounds of your Valk with Cobras coming down the street or seeing you sitting on my front porch steps chatting with my wife until I got home or shooting the bull in the garage while I try to get something done and then being amazed that 3 hours had past and nothing got done but our friendship had gotten stronger. I will miss all this but I also know in my heart that you are in a better place and we will share good times together again. But still I will miss you. Until we ride together again Nick.

I only met Nick on a few rides over the past three years so I didn't know him very well. But I knew him well enough to know that he was a very happy, generous and peaceful man. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that was in need. These are just a few of the things that I knew about Nick but the one thing that I will always remember, is his smile. My sincere condolences to Dyanne, Richard and Kyle.

Remarks

Although I never had the chance to meet Nick, nor am I a regular to this message board, I felt the need to express my thoughts. Shorty and I ride with the wonderful group of people in the VRCC. Having lost in the past, I realize there is nothing one can say to make this any easier but, now Nick is at peace and no longer will he be suffering. Think of the good times, the memories, the hearts he has touched, the friends and family, the smiles. May it help Nick's family to know he will be missed and continue to ride with the souls of our group! Mary

I only met Nick once, when he opened his garage & home to the New England VRCC for a spring tune-up. He was one of those individuals who would make you feel very relaxed in his home on the 1st visit and being British had a unique sense of humor. I feel lucky to have met him and wish his family all the best. I've never written a memorial before and I hope I'm saying this right.

While we never got a chance to know Nick personally we feel as if we already did from all that others have had to say about him. We are only sorry we never got the chance to meet him in person. At least now his struggle is over, unfortunately now it begins for those who miss him. Our heart goes out to all his friends and family.

My sincere condolences to his family. I only regret that I never met the man. I do have some special memories from communications we had via email. I also have the English Pound with the dragon on it securely attached to my Valk key. He sent that to me out of kindness, which was his way. It was important to me before, but now I will think of Nick every time I start the Valk. I am as saddened by this as if it was the loss of a good friend. But then, this little club has the power to make that happen, doesn't it? I'll miss you, Nick.

Condolences to Nick's family. The day nick passed away was a very sad day for all that knew Nick. I was rooting for him and prayers said. I am going to miss him, that's for sure. I first got to know Nick when the virus first hit everybody's mailbox including Nicks who got one that came thru with my name on it. Boy did he read me the riot act until I finally got a word in edgewise and explained that it wasn't from me. Anybody with that kind of tenacity was OK in my book. A while back Nick responded to an email that I sent him and he acknowledged that he was having more of a problem with his health than he wanted any of the VRCC Members to know about because he didn't want sympathy. I honored his wish that I not post his response. I don't think that he would mind me telling you now. Godspeed Nick, it was an honor knowing you for the time that I did. I wish the family well.. He will be missed by all...

I was in the chat room the night that he offered to loan his bike to (Peter) Sir Lancelot for the first InZane rally. Not many would offer their bike to a perfict stranger, but Nick did. My condolences to Nicks friends and family. Ride free brother. May you always ride in the sunshine.

I only met Nick once at Inzane, year before last, but spoke to him on the phone a few times. He always struck me as someone who so enjoyed life and his motorcycle. I think it has been more than evident that Nick has a lot of friends who cared very much and will miss him terribly. It's been noted that you can tell a lot about a man by the friends he keeps. Nick, even though I never really knew you, I think I know a lot about you. Rest well.

I had the pleasure to ride with Nick two or three times. First time was down on Cape Cod in the early fall of 2001. My second ride with Nick was joining him and a group of CT riders to deliver a check to the NYC Police 9-11 Fund and then a ride by of Ground Zero and over to Brooklyn. I got to see the more humorous side of Nick at Port Arthur waiting to take the ferry over to Bridgeport, CT. I also got to know Nick better through his postings on the NE VRCC board. I learned that he was very protective of his friends when he misunderstood my tease to a fellow VRCC member. Once he realized I my post was a tease, he was gracious enough to apologize. Nick always did and always will have my respect. He stood for what was right and always had an open heart. Nick your smile will be missed, but you will never be forgotten. Rest well my friend.

Words cannot express how much all of you have meant to us this past year. Your moral support for Nicholas was wonderful and your visits, e-mails and notes always cheered him up.He was so proud to be a member of the VRCC, and he loved all of you and always praised the VRCC, for the good deeds and honorable men and women you are. I want to thank all of you for your generous donations,when I say it kept us going, I mean literally. Your donations saved us and allowed us to stay in our home, where Nicholas was the most comfortable.Your help allowed me to take the FMLA, unpaid leave from work to take care of Nicholas. Without your assisstance, none of this would have been possible. As if that wasn't enough, you gave Nicholas a funeral to be proud of.The dignity and respect all of you showed him was overwhelming. The pallbearers did a wonderful job, and I am sure it was very difficult for them, thank you so much. The procession of motorcycles taking him to his final rest was so touching and emotional for me, and then to see his bike, he loved so much, adorned with flowers waiting for us at the gravesite meant so much. Thank you for honoring him with your friendship and love.Thank you for being there for us, at a time when we felt so alone and overwhelmed. Thank you for being the wonderful club you are. We will always remember your kindness and generosity for the rest of our lives.Nicholas was a wonderful man and I will love him FOREVER.Thanks to all of you,we had the last few months together. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. May God bless all of you and keep you safe. With love, Dyanne

I'll miss you buddy....But ask God for a special blessing for all that you've left behind. We find peace in our thought of the many things you did for us. Maybe it was to make us smile, or teach us something we didn't know. Maybe it your smile that said you enjoyed us.
