Roads to Rides

Mt. Dora and Minneola
Well, we took US Hwy 441 to CR 19a to Old US Hwy 441, through downtown Mt. Dora, to Liberty St. Liberty to Clayton St. to Beauclair Ave. to Dora Dr. to Sadler Road (448). West on 448 through the thriving metropolis of Lake Jem and on to CR 561. 561 through Astatula and on to US Hwy 27 where we turned south to Minneola. Once in Minneola we got back on 561 which is also called Main Avenue (I think), and continued to our stop at the Tiki Bar!
Thanks You Jimmy

Country Loop
We took an amazing ride last weekend that you might want to put in your coffers. We cruised (you can do it in reverse or catch up with it any place along the way) from DeLand on 44 and turned onto 42 just past the St. John's river just out of Deland..... went through Paisley and Altoona, all horse country, rolling hills, orange groves and then dog legged at 19 to catch back up with 42 and got into Weirsdale turned right onto 25 and at the stop light turned left to the Gator Joe's restaurant. It's on an amazing white sanded lake with ice cream colored 40's style cabins all around it....... Great fry up fish style place on stilts with outdoor and indoor seating. Then we went to Mt. Dora. In the past we took the back roads, which you would have to investigate since we just cruised on 441 into Mt. Dora where they had a huge arts festival going on. On a nothing happening day it's still nice though. The ride was a a step back in time...... delicious. From Connielee and Smooth

Directions for this ride we supplied by David Campbell. Pat and I took it and had lunch in St. Antonio. There are two eateries in St. Antonio. One is a Mexican Cafe and the other is a small market with a "sandwich counter" inside. We at at the market and were served LARGE fresh sandwiches on what tasted like home made bread.

Thanks David

331 Mile Round Trip In Central Florida.
Head East on 92 from Tampa/Brandon. At county line road (polk/hillsborough line) go north till the road ends (just past I-4) and turned right. At Galloway road turn left on Kathleen road, a 45 degree left. Take this for a few miles to Socrum Rd. At the Elementary school, turn left on Old Dade City rd., to Rock Ridge Rd. This road is excellent, lots of twisties, some meant for 10 mph or less, lots of birds, shade trees, cows, horses and even flocks of wild turkeys. Follow Rock Ridge to Green Pond rd, a mild left turn, another nice twisting road, to Route 33. Go North to 561 to Clermont, 50 East to 27, 27 North to Leesburg, 44 West to 301 South, to 471 South by Sumterville, South to 98. Take a sharp right heading north about a half mile catch the far north end of Old Dade City Rd (35A)and followed it back to rt 92 in Lakeland back to Brandon! "What a ride, I only wish others were riding along."

Deland Western Loop
From Route 92 Go West on Marsh Road (this sign can be hard to see if you are heading North)
Turn Left on Daugherty to US 11
Turn right on US 11 about 1/2 mile
Turn Left on Reynolds Road
Cross over 17/92
Go Left on Grand Ave
Go Right on Route 44 to parking area just before the Bridge.

Dave gave us this route when we had a Q at Cedar River Resturant. The "group" made this trip and it was well worth the time. You can loop under the bridge from the parking lot and follow the road back to Route 44.
