First of all I want to give a big Thanks to Greg R for doing such
a great job setting up this ride. It came out perfect, even the
weather.
We all meet on time and the MacDonalds in West Hills. After everyone
gassed up and drank some coffee and such we headed out. Greg R lead
us through the twistie mountian roads of the Santa Monica Mountians.
We made a brief stop at the Rock Store for a break. Would you
believe it we even had plenty of parking. From there it was more
twisties to the Ronald Reagan Library. We made it there just in time
for our guided tour.Tour guide Mike Hansen did a nice job in
pointing out all the interesting stuff and answering out questions.
At 12:30 we took a break from the tour for lunch. They reserved some
tables for us under Air Force 1. Boy what a site to see that big jet
up close. They did a fantastic job of displaying it in the big
building. During lunch we had a 50/50 and would you believe it I was
the big winner this time. Mike Hansen did the honors of pulling my
winning ticket. I have to admit it's nice to win one once in a
while. After lunch Mike finished the tour by showing us the oval
office. It was just like it was when Reagan was president.I was a
little suprised how small it was. I was under the impression it was
larger for some reason. After the tour we hung out for a bit while
some of the group went to the gift shop. We said out goodbyes and
headed off on the 118 fwy.
It was great to have Wayne and Rod come all the way from Las Vegas
to join us for the ride. I'm sure everyone had a good time and it
was great to see everyone again.
The next ride will be on March 24th to the Barrett Junction Cafe.
I still need to preride it so the detail will be up soon. There is a
sign up page ready to go if you like.
See you on the next one,
Dave |
