SoCal Valks Ride To The
Barrett Junction Cafe
Ride Report&
Pictures
What a Great ride!
All I can say if you didn't come on
this ride you really missed a good one. 21 Bikes and 28 people
showed up for a wonderful day in South San Diego County. We left on
time from Temecula and took a nice easy ride down to Barrett
Junction Cafe. We had a few new people come and join us today. Cliff
Bergen joined us all the way from British Columbia. Chuck join us
for the first time on his Rune with just 4 hours sleep but enjoyed
every minute. It took us about 3 hours to get to the Cafe with a
nice stop for gas and a brief pit stop. I only stayed on the freeway
for about 15 miles for the whole trip. We saw some beautiful country
and rode some of the nicest roads I've been on in a long time. For a
moment we thought we lost 4 bikes because they somehow got separated
from the group in traffic. Luckily they stopped and asked directions
and found there way back to us. The food at Barrett Junction was
good and they did very well taking care of us. The service was a
little slow but they has 31 of us and a big group from a sports car
club there also. Oh I forgot to mention that Gary and Sally Dupont
meet us there as well as Dutch and Katie's nephew. He just got back
from Iraq. We were glad he made it home safe. He also won the 50/50
for a nice 90 bucks. After lunch some of the group headed back while
the rest of us continued on. I must say the second half was the best
part of the ride. We had to stop once because it got quite cool and
we had to put on some warmer jackets. We also made a stop to look at
the wonderful view from the Sunrise Highway. Dudley's Bakery was our
last stop before we all went out separate ways back home. Everyone
said that they really enjoyed the ride. I know I did.
So that's about it. Hope to see you
all on April 14th for the Riding to Randsburg ride.
