A Streetcar Named De Luz

 Ride FAQ

Q1.  Is this road paved?
A1.  Of course.
At least its mostly paved.
I mean, surely, it must have been paved at one time.

Q2.  Is there dirt on this road?
A2.  Perhaps the more appropriate question would be "Is this a dirt road?".

Q3.  Is this a dirt road?
A3.  Of  course not.
Valkyries are not dirt bikes (although in spots that may be hard to determine).

Q4.  Should I bring my dual sport bike?
A4.  Of course not.
Your Valkyrie will be adequate to the task.
However, a well stocked first aid kit and an entrenching tool are an
excellent way to accessorize your bike.

Q5.  Will there be gas available along the route?
A5.  Of course.
Although you will need to bring a short length of hose.

Q6.  Will there be restrooms available?
A6.  Of course.
There will be two "official " restrooms at which we will stop.
(If you plan on needing toilet paper you may wish to bring your own.)
Unofficial restrooms are plentiful and abundant.

Q7.  Is this a real two lane highway/road?
A7.  Of course.
Well, to be fair I suppose that depends on your definition of real.
I mean.....is Survivor real?  Is reality TV really real?  Don't get me started on Wrestling!

Q8.  OK - this is a two lane road, right?
A8.  Of course.
Although you know how much smaller country roads look without curbs,
shoulders & those yellow lines down the middle.

Q9.  Wait just a second....if its not two lanes, how many lanes is it?
A9.  Use some logic here Stanley.....how many lanes can you ride in....ONE, right?
One lane you need, one lane you'll have.
In some places the "road" is wider than one lane.

Q10.  What idiot would build a road with less than two lanes....wait a minute... have portions of this road been washed away?
A10.  Of course not.
But, well , they must have gone somewhere.

Q11.  This is beginning to sound like a trail ride.....will I need food and water?
A11.  If you eat at Tom's Farm you will be fine until we reach Oscar's.
You should; however,
bring water , or a reverse osmosis filter and some iodine tablets.

Q12.  This is beginning to sound kinda rough.  Should I really bring my significant other?
A12.  Of course, it is too far to walk.
Oh, you mean spouse, friend, companion, shackjob ......You Bet!  Those nights on the trail can be cold!

Q13.  I thought this ride ended at noon at Pat & Oscar's.
A13.  Of course it does....
However, has the lesson of Gilligan's Island been lost on you?

Q14.  Is this going to be another pedal to the metal, scrape your pegs kind of ride?
A14.  Of course not.
On the improved part of the road you will average between 20 - 30 mph.
On the somewhat less than improved part of the road you will average between 10 - 20 mph.

Q15.  Is your main squeeze going?
A15.  Of course.
We face danger shoulder to shoulder.

Q16.  What exactly is the Plunge?
A16.  A 1/4 mile section of road known for its near vertical grade.

Q17.  Why isn't there a picture?
A17.  Here is a picture of one rider who just finished his descent.
"I should have kept both my hands on the bars! "

Q18.  Will I need any special equipment for going over the Plunge?
A18.  Lets be clear here ...... its best to go down it not over it.....that said....
See A4.  "accessories"

Q19.  Whose bright idea was this Ride anyway?
A19.  Our lips are sealed.  If you have additional questions, email the
Fearless Leader.
That's why they call him the Fearless Leader.
They call him other things of  course.
Feel free to add to the list after the ride.
