Oh, how wonderful... after a night of horrendous winds and waves, the morning started sunny. Last night, as we sailed away from Sydney heading to Halifax, the seas became so high that the waves were breaking against our sliding glass doors and we are on the 6th deck and set back 40-50 feet from the bow of the ship where all the cables and anchors are stored for docking or anchoring. Somehow we managed to eat and sleep just fine. We came into Halifax harbor to find two large ships already docked and then found another coming in right on our tail. This meant that there were 8-9,000 tourists getting on buses and all headed for the same points of interest. We had originally signed up for a 1 hour tour in an open amphibious vehicle, which started on the streets and then launched itself for a water tour of the harbor. However, they cancelled it due to lack of sign-ups so we ended up on on a 3 hour tour of the city and various points of interest, like the Citadel, all in a double decker bus. We walked through the Public Gardens, climbed the gun placements at the Citadel and cruised through all the streets in the downtown area. Once the tour was over, we walked around the Port area to see the various "Made in Nova Scotia" boutiques before re-boarding the ship for a light lunch. We have just backed out of the docks, the first ship to leave.
