Our wake-up call for the next morning was a leisurely 5:45am. We had another light breakfast, boarded the bus to the airport, said sad good-byes to Gary who hugged us all as he took us right to security inside the airport, and finally boarded for the one-hour flight with another snack back to Lima. Victor shepherded us all on to the plane and then buses in Lima to take us on one-hour drive to the Casa Andina Private Collection in the Miraflores area of Lima. At the hotel, we did a mass check-in. Daryl asked if we had a king bed this time and was assured we had 2 queens. When we finally got to our very large room, we found 3 (count them, 3) doubles on the 10th floor overlooking the city. While waiting for the rooms to be ready, Daryl asked Victor for recommendations for restaurants. He named the 4 best and she headed to the concierge, who said that on the first 3 there was a waiting period of 3-4 weeks for dinner. However, he found 2 tables for 4 at 7pm at the 4th choice, La Huaca Pucllyana, so we took one and a woman from Halifax from the second group to Cusco took the other. He also got both of our parties into the #1 choice (also supposedly the #14 restaurant in the world) for lunch the next day. He made a third reservation for a romantic seafood place overlooking the ocean for Rob and Daryl the next night as everyone else was heading out on late night-early morning flights arranged by Oceania and we were staying over one more night as we did not leave until 1pm on Friday.

We spent some time in the afternoon getting our clothes together for dinner, as they were all jammed in our cruise bags and needed a little wrinkle removal. We also walked around the area near the hotel, which is known for its jewelry stores. We chose not to eat any lunch as we wanted to be ready for dinner. We met Terry and Micheline and Barb and Ulf from Halifax and went in a van arranged by the hotel to a pyramid in the center of Miraflores. This was a different site than the one we had seen in San Ysidro on Sunday, probably 3-4 times as large and lit up for the evening. La Huaca Pucyllana is actually within the park/site and the main eating area is outdoors overlooking the pyramid. What a setting! Before going to our table, we were served complementary Pisco Sours in the leather chairs in the lobby area. Then we went outside to choose from a fantastic menu which matched the setting. We tried various appetizers this time – Rob had "Cuy" done as "Chicharones" or small bites deep fried; Daryl had white and green asparagus. Then Rob had duck, Micheline tried lomo saltado, Terry had shrimp, and Daryl had plaiche, a fish from the Amazon, served on a bed of mashed plantains and yucca. There was even dessert and two bottles of wine. What a great evening!  We were all happy in the van back to the hotel.

Since our pics were to dark to see what the restaurant looks like, I took some off the net.
