Post Ranch

Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur is located 1200 feet up from the ocean surface and, as you
can see, often above the cloud layer. There are several small basking or relaxing pools
and a third larger one for guests who want to really swim.

Accommodations come in various types of buildings - tree houses, for instance.
The library is set in the trees as well.

Another types of room is in a sod house with the garden around it and on the roof.
The fountain by Greg Hawthorne is an the entrance to Sierra Mar, the restaurant.

Sierra Mar is mainly glass hanging out over the cliff and the ocean with views aplenty and star
gazing on clear nights. There is an outside patio and a pool right next to the restaurant for guest use.

More views of the pools and the views in general.

Our "room" was the lower floor of a redwood building and is named "lower panoramic"
because of the view from the deck, for fresh good coffee in the morning.

The cloud layer was definitely visible in the morning, but cleared by breakfast.

When we arrived, we sat out with our wine, cheese and crackers and met the local inhabitants.
A deer and three fawns showed no fear, coming right up to the deck.  A tiny chipmunk looked
for leftovers and Mr. and Mrs. Blue Jay were eager for nuts, or anything else for that matter.

It really is a panoramic view.

Imagine living high above the ocean and having someone else make sure you had
firewood in the fireplace,  fresh juice in the fridge, and good wine and cheese when
you wanted it ....it all can be yours at Post Ranch Inn. WE HAVE TO GO BACK!!!
