And so on.........
At Sea, September 4
The night certainly was not as rough as forecast and we gained an hour, so we slept in and then had breakfast with a quiet day in the offing. For us, days at sea are not a problem as we have a lovely cabin and lots of reading to do. For some who came all the way from Australia and were not sure when they would get another chance at seeing Scotland, a day at sea was a disappointment. The sun came out about 9:30-10:00am. As you can see from the photos, we have been adding more sunrises and sunsets to our large photo collection. Today's turned out to be a great sunset.
We had actually planned to go to the Lounge that evening and see the magician, but our dinner in the Grand Dining Room seemed to drag on a little, so we never made it. They seemed to have misplaced a bottle of wine that we had planned on drinking, so Loredana, the cellar master, said she would dig it up by the next evening.
At Sea, September 5
We had good, smooth sailing all night, so slept well and slept in since we had nothing to do all day again except eat and read. Daryl fit in another load of laundry as the weather conditions had meant wearing some things more than planned and lighter clothing not at all. Daryl seems to be the laundry pro and gets to explain the system to all the newcomers – what an honor, but it's one way to meet people.
We had a light breakfast and lunch, just as a reason to get out of the cabin. We knew we were going to Jacques and did not want to spoil dinner. We both had the pumpkin soup, which is about 1/2 cream and is dramatically served from a pumpkin or large squash. Norman told us the special of the day was sauteed ostrich with truffle vinaigrette and whipped potatoes, so we gave it a try. Loredana had located our wine and it was decanted and waiting for us. Norman was his usual happy self and Marek is turning out to be a much better maitre d' than we had thought, so obviously Boris and Mathieu know more about what they are doing than we do.
