Third Day at Sea, Arriving in Belfast at 6pm, September 6

It was another uneventful night so obviously the captain's decision was correct in taking the southern route. The ship had planned a special brunch in the Grand Dining Room from 9am-1:15pm, with ice sculptures and a tower of profiteroles growing ever taller as made and added to by the pastry chefs. You could order off the regular menu or have fresh sliced smoked salmon and prosciutto and a variety of cheeses, etc. They served Bloody Marys and Mimosas. When we got there about 9am, everyone was lined up at the entrance to welcome the guests and almost all of them greeted us by name, since we know most everyone it seems.

We finished eating about 10:30am and went to the Wine Bazaar to stock up on enough (6) more bottles to get us through the rest of the cruise. Surprise, they know us by name as well, which makes it more fun for us!

We read books and the LA Times and Washington Post, did our e-mail, and were generally lazy – not like home where there is always something to do.

We have to do a mandatory face-to-face with Immigration in Belfast when we dock. Since the ship is currently holding our passports in order to do mass immigration checks, we have to pick up our passports, talk to an agent, get a "cleared" note and give our passports back.

At 4pm, we can finally see land. While we can get off the ship in Belfast this evening, we will probably stay aboard since we have a 6 hour excursion in Belfast. The port is another industrial looking place and it is quite a way to the nearest pub, where most folks will go. Since we are already docked, they can reboard at any time. We just settled for our favorite dishes at Red Ginger instead.
