Mykonos, Greece
A short sail from Delos, we anchored off the island of Mykonos, another Greek island of
white washed buildings with blue trim. We had signed up for a Guided Stroll Through Mykonos,
but in retrospect, would have been just as happy to go ashore and wander on our own. This
island was often visited by Jackie O and Aristotle Onassis when they traveled in their large
yacht. It draws a relatively affluent group of visitors, so there are boutiques for all
the big names (Louis Vuitton, etc.) as well as the local sellers of white cotton clothing
for both men and women. We walked to the original windmills, which are highly photographed
and no longer working. Some have been turned into residences. We saw the Maritime Museum
and another Greek Orthodox chapel, but we were beginning to be burned out and headed back
to the ship so we could host cocktails in our cabin before packing and getting ready to
disembark.
