West Yellowstone to Ketchum

The plan for this day's ride was somewhat longer than the previous days as we weaved back and forth over the Continental Divide on a "scenic ride" through Montana and into Idaho where our goal was Ketchum, the neighbor to the more famous Sun Valley. On the way, we stopped at Craters of the Moon National Monument, where ages old lava flows made their eerie mark on the landscape. The problem with all of these stops along the way is that they require walking and we are all wearing steel-tipped boots and protective clothing which slows everyone down, except Clemens who is in the van and wearing shorts and tennis shoes. In Ketchum, we found rooms at a Clarion Inn within walking distance of all the stores and restaurants. The problem was that it was Sunday and the town was closed up early. Franz, Herbert and Rob remembered a great dinner place with a rooftop firepit and seating and it was open, so off we went. Unfortunately, it was too cold on the rooftop, but we had a great meal and lots of laughs in the dining room before heading back to our beds. Rob did his nightly loading of all the photos in these daily links. Clemens had his nightly Skype conversation with Sabine – ah, young love.
