This ride takes you up the Clackamas River, through the Cascade Mountains on paved
Forest Roads above Timothy Lake and back to Portland.
Starting from Estacada, (gas up in Estacada) head East on 224 up the Clackamas River.
Follow 224 past the Ripplebrook Ranger Station to Forest Road 57. Follow Forest Road 57
to where the pavement ends. Turn left on to Forest Road 58. (Going straight on Forest
Road 57 leads you to Timothy Lake but it is a rough gravel/dirt road for about 5 miles)
Follow Forest Road 58 to Forest Road 42. Turn left to go back to highway 26 and Portland.
Turn right to go visit Timothy Lake, the Clackamas River headwaters, and a Historic
Ranger Station. To return, simply turn around from the ranger station or Timothy Lake and
follow Forest Road 42 to highway 26 back to Portland.
