Fall Color Tour

Hi All,

It may seem early to talk about but the 2009 Fall color tour is only 7 weeks away!! The date is October 3rd and 4th. If you are planning on attending you need to secure your room reservations NOW! We have secured the same hotel as last year along with the same rate. The hotel is the AmericInn of Traverse City on 10614 US 31 North, Traverse City, MI Phone # 1-800-441-1903 or 231-938-0262. The rate is $69.00 two queen beds(same as last year) and we have 25 rooms blocked out. Mention Valkyrie Riders Cruisers Club to get that rate. They are holding these rooms and rates ONLY UNTIL SEPTEMBER 3RD so if interested make your reservations ASAP. As in previous years we plan on taking a beautiful all 2 lane ride up to Traverse City originating in Freeland. RogueRiders Oct. ride south

Some of us are planning a ride down south for the weekend of October 10th. It will be a four day ride, leaving Detroit on friday the 9th and returning monday the 12th. The route will take us thru southeastern Ohio, into Parkersburg West Virginia. From there we will head south to Marion Virginia. From Marion we will head over to Boone N.C. and ride the snake (421) then up to Natural Bridge Kentucky. From there we will head for home. Friday night will be spent in Parkersburg, Saturday night in Marion, and Sunday night in Natural Bridge. Motels look to be in the $60 to $70 range as of now. daily mileage is in the 300 to 400 mile range, with 8 a.m. starts, riding till approx. 5:30 p.m. each day. This allows for numerous short stops.
The ride from Parkersburg to Marion features traversing three Mountains, and anyone that has ridden The Snake in Shady Valley knows that it is a great ride.

GGC VRCC Fall color ride

Okay it looks like it will have to be Oct. 10, 2009. I am sorry it conflicts with the south ride but it the only day between work and other events that I have free. The ride will be leaving from Our Chapter sponsor Michigan Honda in Owosso. We will be riding through some really nice roads out west and south of there. I have the route somewhat mapped out, will run it again this weekend. The hardest part is going to be getting us out of town. Here is what I would ask of the members, please let me know if You think You will be coming. I need to make sure that the final stop will have enough room for us all. The place I am planning can seat about 40 people for a group, if it is more I will have to move. I am hoping to have to move ;-) Last year was a much bigger turn out than I planned so I was not prepared, this year I should have things a little better. Michigan Honda says they will have things set up for Us in the morning. I am going to have the ride leave there at 11am, the ride will be about 2 hours including the stops with a stop for lunch and kibitzing. I will also have a longer route planned if the weather permits. I am planning the somewhat shorter route as I know most of you will have a pretty good ride in to Owosso.
I will be leaving from Mega coney Island at 9 to ride to Michigan Honda that morning if anyone wants to meet there and ride up.
